Common questions

Good to know before you fence.

The questions homeowners ask us most. Don't see yours? Call us at 713-672-6694 and just ask.

Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Colonial Fence is licensed and insured, so you and your property are covered on every job.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes. We come out, measure, and give you a straight price at no charge and with no pressure to book.
How long does a fence take to build?
Most residential fences go up in one to three days once we start, depending on length and material. Iron and automatic gates take a little longer because of fabrication. You get a real timeline with your estimate.
Do you handle permits and HOA approval?
Most residential fences in Houston do not need a permit, but we tell you up front if yours does. If your neighborhood has an HOA, we build to its rules and give you the spec sheet you need to submit.
Do you remove and haul off the old fence?
Yes. We tear out and haul off the old fence as part of the job, so you are not left with a pile in the yard.
What kinds of fences do you build?
Wood, wrought iron, vinyl, automatic gates, access control, railings, and stone work, for both homes and businesses. We do not build chain link or aluminum. See everything we build.
Wood, vinyl, or iron, which should I choose?
It depends on what matters most to you. Cedar wood is the classic warm privacy fence. Vinyl is the lowest maintenance and holds its color. Iron is the strongest and best for a front-yard or decorative look. We will walk you through the trade-offs at the estimate.
Do you repair fences you did not build?
Yes. We fix storm damage, leaning posts, broken gates, and worn hardware on any fence type, whether we built it or not.
Do you do commercial fencing?
Yes. We handle residential and commercial work, including perimeter fencing, gates, and access control.
What areas do you serve?
Houston and the surrounding towns, out to Katy, Conroe, Galveston, and more. See the full service area.
Do you stand behind your work?
Yes. We stand behind every fence we build. If something is not right, we come back and make it right.
